James is an architect and joined Studio Egret West in September 2014.

His previous experience at Darling Associates and DanksBadnell saw him working on a range of residential schemes scaling from one off high-end bespoke houses to large mix-use affordable housing schemes, whilst also having experience working on industrial projects.

He studied his Bachelor and Masters degree at the University of Liverpool working on a range of projects which included exploring the role of libraries in 2025, master-planning, whilst developing design projects around the end-user. His thesis project explored healing architecture, designing an alcohol recovery centre which incorporated sensual and therapeutic spaces with use of different materials and lighting techniques.

James was awarded the David Inman fund for his dissertation and spent a month in Japan researching the history of Japanese housing and rise of micro houses, furthering his interests into innovative materials and lighting techniques and how they be used to improve housing design. Since joining Studio Egret West, James is working on Bromley South Central (200 homes, a 130 bed hotel, a 10 screen cinema, a 400 space car park and a large retail/restaurant offering, now currently on site). James has also worked on a six, four bedroom family homes that sits on the edge of the Clapham conservation area to the south east of Clapham Common. This project is now on site, due for completion in winter 2015.
