Duncan Paybody

Duncan is an associate with a specialism in Landscape Architecture. He has over 10 years post graduate experience. His portfolio of projects ranges from design interventions in sensitive rural environments to high density city centre public realm projects, education projects, private gardens and residential masterplans.

Prior to starting at Studio Egret West Duncan worked at Planit-IE Landscape Architects in Manchester and was Project Landscape Architect on the award winning Brockhole Jetty. In 2011 he moved South to pioneer Planit-IE’s London Studio delivering their first London project, a new piece of public realm in the heart of Hammersmith.

On Hammersmith Grove, Duncan designed a public space that was responsive to human scale in a harsh and changeable urban microclimate. Colourful naturalistic planting beds, a grove of multi-stem trees and vertical green wall planting transformed a vacuous space beneath one of the areas tallest buildings creating intimacy and shelter at street level.

Since joining Studio Egret West in 2013 Duncan has led the landscape design for two new public parks within a new high density residential village in London’s docklands, is currently overseeing a number of public realm construction projects in Bromley, South-East London and is endeavouring to transform the grounds of the 1960’s Balfron Tower estate in East London by introducing botanical curiosities and renewed spatial hierarchy.

Duncan frequently works on a wide range of projects in the studio where we endeavour to integrate nature and architecture. Duncan is technically strong with good experience of delivering detailed landscape projects. He is also an accomplished illustrator and painter.

Duncan has a Landscape Architecture with Planning BA (hons) degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture from Sheffield University.
