Allison Piehn

Allie is an associate architectural designer specialising in mixed-use developments, transport and infrastructure, education, exhibition, and master planning.

Since joining Studio Egret West in 2011, her projects have focused on high density urban mixed use developments. These include the Old Vinyl Factory in London (masterplan and outline planning submission for 500+ homes, workspace, retail, restaurants, museum, energy centre/hall, and active public realm), Canning Town’s Caxton St (300+ homes and creative workshops), the No.1 National Shipyard in Wales (winning competition for extension of the Welsh Costal Path, foundation centre, and 500+ homes), RIBA’s Regent Street Windows Project for Folli Follie, and various competitions/feasibility studies for projects across the UK, Cyprus and Turkey.

Previously, she worked as an engineer for the biopharmaceutical Amgen, running front end planning of process flow facilities, plant expansion, and research/manufacturing centres across California, Puerto Rico, and Ireland. Post-biotech, she worked for California based AkarStudios, where she focused on the interior developments of La Guardia, O’Hare, Sacramento, and McCarran international airports, hotel retrofit, and restaurant/retail design. Aside she has consulted for the digital animation studio Unit 9 in Italy, competition bids with Andrew Porter and Christine Hawley in London, architectural narration with Curt Illingworth Architects, and various design build construction packages/projects in Central America.

Allie completed her Masters of Architecture at the University College London with a thesis on methods of design realization. She received her Bachelors of Architecture at the California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo and California State University of Florence, Italy with a thesis on architectural and envelope use of tensegrity structures.
