Stratford Shoal

This project, delivered in time for the London 2012 Olympics created an enhanced public realm experience within Stratford Town Centre.

Meridian Square is the gateway to Stratford for visitors arriving by public transport and directs people to Theatre Square, the Broadway with its historic character and the Railway Tree crossing that connects with Stratford High Street.

The Shoal is a vertical kinetic sculpture made of naturally coloured titanium. It creates a linear edge that consolidates the town centre’s fractured northern edge and act as decoy to the taller parking structures and buildings.

Overall, the new public realm together with the Shoal aim to change perceptions and establish Stratford Town Centre as a destination in its own right and a benchmark for the quality of future designs.
