Miniatora is the name given to two identical inflatable structures designed by SEW, which together form the stage for an outdoor dance performance by CandoCo Dance Company (led by Claire Russ). Miniatora has been commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and the Mayor of London with assistance from Platform for Art and support from Arts Council England for performances at three outdoor performance festivals in 2006. The purpose of the structures is first, to appropriate a portion of space within the vastness of the squares. It was also intended as a responsive structure which will dance with the performers providing a scenography for the dance. Miniatora is both stage and set with its arms and legs stretched outwards, points to and in some way appropriates the surrounding city.
