Exploring the Evolution of Car Parks in Exeter

Exeter City Council has commissioned Studio Egret West to carry out a feasibility study to unlock the potential of a number of City Centre car parks for future development.

Studio Egret West, together with GVA and Peter Brett Associates, are working with the council to produce an overall strategy for each car park. Exeter has ambitious plans to become the Regional Capital of the South West; the city’s car parks and transport infrastructure play an integral role in realising this vision.

This recent commission follows a similar study by Studio Egret West for Transport for London which explored the architectural, operational, planning and development feasibility of redeveloping 23 TfL car park sites across London. This latter study forms the basis of the Studio’s upcoming exhibition and workshop series ‘’Let’s Talk About Car Parks’’, which is due to open in late 2018.

The evolving use of cars, as well as the technological developments that are influencing this, are as relevant to Exeter and other regional centres as they are to London, and the Studio are looking forward to investigating these issues with Exeter City Council.
