Framing Serendipity

Book Launch and Exhibition

We launched our first book – Framing Serendipity

Marking 12 years of practice, Studio Egret West’s first book Framing Serendipity is an idiosyncratic response to the challenge of mixed-use, higher-density neighbourhoods in an undeniably turbulent period of political, social and economic change.

The liberally illustrated book, designed and produced in-house, is divided into ten themes. These explain the Studio’s philosophy and approach to place making. Each chapter ends with a ‘conversation’ led by journalist and author Zoe Williams.

The title of the book reflects the Studio’s fundamental mindset, that ‘serendipity’ is a valid form of research and design development.

The 212-page book is available to buy directly at the Studio, in selected bookshops and on Amazon. During Clerkenwell Design Week all proceeds will be donated to Movement on the Ground, a foundation responding to a humanitarian crisis affecting the innocent men, women and children forced from their homes by climate change, poverty and war: http://movementontheground.com/

Accompanying the launch of Framing Serendipity is an exhibition of the same name, which in addition to the book displays architectural models the Studio has produced over the last decade. The exhibition is open to the public Monday to Friday, from 10AM to 6PM until 2nd of June 2017. Studio Egret West invites you to visit, peruse, potentially purchase the book and most importantly feel the creative energy generated in our space.
